Dr. Larry Ponemon revealed new 2018 research at SecureWorld Boston.
I spoke to him after his keynote, and he told me he is okay with the fact that 67% of information security leaders in his latest study say a breach is likely at their organization this year.
The reason he's okay with it?
Because it speaks to their mindset. "I think there's recognition where that didn't exist before," says Ponemon. "Some of our CISOs used to say, 'Well, that breach was just a fluke.' Now, they recognize even if they do everything right, they can still have a data breach."
But Ponemon's research went deeper into the pie chart (above) for answers about why cybersecurity leaders expect a breach this year.
And it was sure interesting to see what CISOs see as their biggest risk factors in 2018.
Also ranking higher than 50% as a reason why a data breach or cyber attack may happen in 2018:
All these issues will be discussed among your peers across North America at SecureWorld cybersecurity conferences in 2018.
