Yesterday we wrote about the incredible data set Wombat Security uses in its highly regarded 2018 State of the Phish report, in Part 1 of our Behind the Scenes interview.

It turns out there are tens of millions of data points that go into this annual research.

Today, in Part 2, we interview those who know the report best. We focused in on key takeaways and surprising results from this year's report, that can help inform your security awareness program this year.

As an example of what going behind the scenes and reading between the lines can do:

 On the surface, this bar chart shows that employees are falling for all kinds of different phishing emails, with consumer related and corporate related phish failures most likely.

However, if you read between the lines, according to Wombat Security VP Amy Baker, "It shows that employees are using their professional email for both work and personal business." Certainly, that is key insight for when you build or improve your security awareness program.
