Oh, Canada.
With a smaller Olympic team than the United States, the country picked up 29 Olympic medals in the winter games.
That's 21% more than the U.S. Olympic team earned.
Victory goes to: Canada.
And cybersecurity efforts to protect elections could be where the country beats the U.S. next.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports the Canadian government is going after $1 billion in funding to beef up cybersecurity.
And a major focus will be to protect the integrity of Canadian elections from foreign interference.
Here in the U.S., that issue has been talked to death with no real federal action to speak of. In fact, a number of states have started acting on their own in the absence of federal help.
And a heads up if you've been hiring Canadian talent: some of them may be headed home if the proposed budget gets passed.
Says CBC News: "The budget also will include new funding to 'train and retain' cybersecurity experts.
Sources tell CBC the Trudeau administration recognizes it faces a "talent crunch" in the high-tech sector, where Canadian programmers are being lured to the U.S.
Let's hope those Canadian programmers don't join the country's Olympic team, too, or else the medal count between Canada and the U.S. could be even more lopsided, next time.
