If you are a cybersecurity professional, we have some great news for career advancement: More than 300,000 new information security jobs were posted online in the United States during the past year.

This is according to just released numbers from NIST and its free online job source, CyberSeek.

"U.S. employers in the private and public sectors posted an estimated 313,735 job openings for cybersecurity workers between September 2017 and August 2018. That’s in addition to the 715,000-plus cybersecurity workers currently employed around the country."

This is great news for the cybersecurity pay scale and frustrating news if your organization is trying to hire additional InfoSec help and is unable to find or afford those who are qualified to do the job.

Jobs data: cybersecurity's most in-demand roles

What types of cybersecurity jobs are open? Which roles are most needed? What is the demand for information security workers in your state? What do cybersecurity career paths look like, and which InfoSec roles transition to other roles?

All of this information is available on CyberSeek, which is supported by NIST and the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE).

Yes, that's right: NIST and NICE  are working together.
