# [True Story: Cybersecurity 'Seal of Approval' Compromised](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/cybersecurity-seal-compromised)

It's a cybersecurity seal of approval that gives online shoppers a sense of trust in the website they are buying from.

You may have seen this Trusted Site notification from Best of the Web while browsing:

However, the seal itself was apparently compromised in a recent cyberattack revealed May 13, 2019, by security researcher [Willem de Groot](https://twitter.com/gwillem):

A cybersecurity and privacy seal of approval that contains keyloggers? Yes, you read that correctly.

@K0nserv has a comment about this:

[Best of the Web](https://twitter.com/bestoftheweb/) responded that it has now taken care of the problem.

### **Irony exists in cybersecurity and privacy**

Best of the Web is not the only cybersecurity related company to experience something like this. And in some cases, the irony is much worse.

Like the time [Hackers Hit a 'Secure Email' Company, Wiping Out Database](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/hacker-wipes-database).

And there was plenty of irony when this [Hacking Website Got Hacked](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/hacking-website-suffers-major-data-breach-hackers), and all kinds of security and privacy ironies in the [10 Funniest Tweets About #GDPRday](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/10-funniest-tweets-about-gdprday) in Europe.

And how can we forget the ironic letter about regulating medical IoT devices:

In a letter to the FDA on ways the agency could *reduce regulatory burdens *for U.S. hospitals, the American Hospital Association asked for [*more FDA oversight for someone else*](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/medical-device-cybersecurity).

Irony sometimes pops up where we least expect it in cybersecurity.

And when it does,we tend to hear about it in a [conference keynote or session ](https://www.secureworld.io/events)somewhere on the North American continent.
