SecureWorld recently interviewed Dark Web expert Mayra Rosario Fuentes, Sr. Threat Researcher at Trend Micro, about a new trend she's seeing on the Dark Web.

### **New Dark Web trend: lawyers open for business**

More [attorneys are marketing legal services in Dark Web forums](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/dark-web-law-lawyers-trends), and in some cases offering help to break the law.

"Several lawyers are offering fake passports and fake birth certificates. There are also lawyers offering real estate transactions with fake identities. I even found a lawyer that was offering sales of stolen credit cards,” she tells us.

#### **New Dark Web trend: sale of entire digital profiles**

*Now, there is another new trend* we're learning about. Cyber criminals are selling more than your stolen credentials; they're selling your digital profile.

[ZDNet reports](https://www.zdnet.com/article/cybercrime-market-selling-full-digital-fingerprints-of-over-60000-users/):

Users who in the past have been infected with malware or who have installed rogue browser extensions have unknowingly had their account passwords and full browser details recorded, and then sent to Genesis operators.

Each user profile includes login credentials for accounts on online payment portals, e-banking services, file-sharing or social networking services, but also the cookies associated with those accounts, browser user-agent details, WebGL signatures, HTML5 canvas fingerints, and other browser and PC details.

This almost sounds like a big data marketing firm combined with cybercrime. That's an unsettling mix, isn't it?

#### **Dark Web vs. Deep Web definition**

By the way, do you know the difference between the Dark Web and the Deep Web? The two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but each refer to their unique slice of the internet. [Here is the explanation](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/dark-web-vs-deep-web).
