The craziness for Facebook kicked in just before the weekend, as some users had their Facebook search bar suggest sexual content.
Reports Gadgets 360:
"After typing in 'video of' into the Facebook search bar, some users said the tool suggested obscene terms that included sex acts and child abuse. Facebook's search predictions are designed to reflect popular searches, but it's unclear why the offensive terms appeared.
'We're very sorry this happened,' Facebook said in statement Friday. 'As soon as we became aware of these offensive predictions we removed them. Facebook search predictions are representative of what people may be searching for on Facebook and are not necessarily reflective of actual content on the platform.'"
Massive amount of Facebook data used by Trump campaign?
Next, as the weekend was winding down, news broke that a huge "research project" involving tens of millions of Facebook users' data may have been used by Trump's big data firm.
"Cambridge Analytica, the data firm hired by President Trump's 2016 campaign, was reportedly involved in the harvesting of personal data from more than 50 million Facebook users. The data firm said Saturday that it contracted GSR to take on a "large scale research project" in the U.S., but said "no data from GSR was used" as part of services it provided to the Trump campaign."
