Kaspersky Lab has two lawsuits going against the federal government, claiming its products were basically banned without proof of wrongdoing and without prior notice.
Now California Senator Diane Feinstein wants to make sure there is no question about the government's power to ban software from federal use to protect America's cybersecurity, at the sole discretion and timing of Homeland Security.
The Federal Network Protection Act seeks, "To clarify that the Secretary of Homeland Security is not required to provide notice to private entities before issuing binding operational directives on agency information security policies and practices."
