"Hey Google... how important is artificial intelligence?"

If the voice of Google's CEO could come through our Google Home Mini, it would say what the company's CEO just did:

"AI is probably the most important thing humanity has ever worked on. I think of it as something more profound than electricity or fire."

Wow, more profound than electricity or fire? In a world where superlatives are so overused they lose their impact, this line makes you stop and think, doesn't it?

Google’s CEO, [Sundar Pichai](https://www.secureworld.io/industry-news/google-ceo-sundar-pichai-hacked), was speaking to the World Economic Forum at its annual conference. With something this powerful comes responsibility.

"Countries need to demilitarize AI, that’s a common goal countries should work towards," he said.

How do you do that? He suggested something akin to the Paris Climate Agreement for artificial intelligence.

It may be a while before we know if the opinion of Google's CEO changes to a fact.
