You likely have concerns about the security of IoT devices, but your concerns probably aren't centered around a fear that IoT machines will take over the world. MEF's latest report finds a staggering 21% of people have concerns that IoT will result in connected machines taking over the world.
MEF surveyed 5,000 people globally on IoT devices. Not surprisingly, most concerns center around privacy and security. What may be surprising, however, is which connected applications harbor the most concern for consumers. 30% are worried about home security devices -- more so than connected cars or heating systems. Something else to keep in mind from this survey: 17% of those polled are worried they won't know how to use IoT devices. That's a big concern for all of us because if they don't know how to use them, how will they know how to secure them?
Meanwhile, a new UK study from BullGuard found that many consumers want IoT devices, but are highly concerned about hacking or data theft. And, nearly a quarter of respondents with advanced technical skills are not confident they can keep their IoT devices safe.
