Teens & Tech: Facebook Is Fading

The Pew Research Center just released its 2018 study on teens and social media.

The results say that 95% of 13- to 18-year-olds now report having smartphone access, and more than 40% say they are online "almost constantly" as a result.

Facebook and teenagers: teen social media usage ranked

The Pew study on teenage social media usage reports a dramatic shift since the previous study three years ago. Facebook ranked number one in teen usage (71%) in 2015 among social media platforms, but not anymore. Here are the social media platforms ranked by teen usage:

  • 85% - YouTube
  • 72% - Instagram
  • 69% - Snapchat
  • 51% - Facebook
  • 32% - Twitter
  • 9% - Tumblr
