He's a WWE Wrestler, known as "Kane," and he just won a primary election in the race for mayor of Knoxville County, Tennessee.
But the world had to wait longer than it should have to learn of Kane's win in the political ring because of a cyber attack.
Bad actors launched a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack against the Knoxville County election system just as results for the May 1, 2018, election were supposed to be published online.
It's the first 2018 election cyber attack that we know of, and elections officials were quick to point out that every vote was accurately counted and the DDoS attack (which is a mysterious term to most Americans) only delayed reporting of the results.
"There was an abnormal amount of traffic that occurred right around the time that the polls closed last night that far exceeded anything that we’ve ever experienced in any election before," Richard Moran, Knox County's IT manager, told WBIR-TV.
And for the record, if you're wondering: Kane's real name is Glenn Jacobs. And news of his primary victory was delivered the old-fashioned way—on paper printouts.
