What is the difference between two-factor authentication and multi-factor authentication? MFA is the new buzzword, but how exactly is it different than 2FA, and what are its benefits?

As the name implies, multi-factor authentication uses multiple methods of customer authentication to verify a user’s identity. This short video describes how these methods go beyond typical 2FA systems, like passwords backed up by text verification, to include multiple parallel types of user authentication. MFA can include a combination of knowledge factors such as traditional passwords, possession factors such as text verification, and inherence factors such as fingerprint identification—all in one dynamic solution.
