Jim DeLorenzo is the solutions manager for Thales eSecurity, where he helps customers understand how their unique security and compliance challenges. He's an expert on GDPR and he'll be co-leading the March 14 web conference.
SecureWorld asked him two key questions about GDPR and Containers and what you should be thinking about-and why attending the web conference can help you.
[SW] GDPR is about to hit: What does this mean for non-EU organizations doing business globally, and for enterprises deploying container technology?
[JL] Organizations around the world should be aware of the GDPR, particularly if they conduct business in the EU, as the regulation brings with it significant changes in the way that EU citizens’ data must be managed and protected. Containers that connect to or house personal data will be in scope, meaning that data protection should be built in, and not an afterthought. Development teams will want to identify and do a mapping of all the connections between their containers and data stores where personal data resides, keeping in mind that any containers that can tap into that data should only be accessible by authorized users and processes.
[SW] What insights will attendees walk away with after hearing what you have to share in the webcast?
[JL] Attendees will gain a better understanding for how the GDPR impacts their organizations in the context of containers, as well as what steps they should be considering to prepare for the May 2018 enforcement date.
The web conference will cover key points on the preparation Jim mentioned:
Encrypt data at rest and in transit
Granular policies to control data access
Fine-grained access control based on users and groups
Container isolation within multi-tenant environments
Compliance requirements for protected data
