The latest member of the GandCrab ransomware family just met its match.
The No More Ransom Project just released a decryption tool for the newest version of GandCrab, a ransomware tool that has extorted more than $2 billion from victims since January 2018.
Europol stressed just how valuable this tool can be:
"Previous decryptors for the GandCrab ransomware have helped more than 30,000 victims recover their data and save roughly $50 million in unpaid ransoms. Most importantly, the joint efforts have weakened the operators’ position on the market and have led to the demise and shutdown of the operation by law enforcement."
Oh, and did we mention that it's free?
That's right, a free decryption tool that can save you money.
But tools like this aren't an anomaly; SecureWorld has reported on the growth of free ransomware decryption keys.
Check it out for yourself at the No More Ransom Project.
