Data breaches usually begin with a user error, and a high school in Montana was no exception after an error led to a data breach.
An examination of computers at Hellgate High School determined it was "user error" that led to December's release of sensitive student information.
On Friday, Missoula County Public Schools attorney Elizabeth Kaleva released to the Missoulian a copy of LMG Security's report on Hellgate's December student data breach.
Following the information release, MCPS hired Missoula digital forensics company LMG Security to review the document containing sensitive information.
